Summary/Abstract: Meeting the minimum needs of people is essential for them to live and sustain their lives both individually and collectively. Looking at the last two centuries of human history, we see that consumption rates have also increased due to increased investment and production in high-tech products, from textiles and household appliances, influenced by technological advancements. While the average person's annual spending was one unit before the 20th century, today this has increased by 100 or more units. Some of these expenditures were initially basic and essential, but over time, they emerged as surplus luxuries, fashion, and modernity. Some of these expenses consist of expenditures beyond real needs and are considered wasteful. Saving is the practice of accumulating economic assets that are surplus to our needs and using them for production or more beneficial purposes without consuming them. However, it is also possible to describe waste as the same product or value spent on unnecessary pursuits, social customs, and imitating others. This study will primarily utilize published articles, books, conference papers, reports, and written texts on the subject. Furthermore, this research will employ online and face-to-face surveys, which constitute the fundamental characteristics of quantitative research. The research was conducted with approximately 162 people in the form of surveys at Yalova University and a state university in Istanbul. 111 of the survey participants were university students, and 51 were academic and administrative staff. The study aimed to measure the participants' opinions, attitudes, and behaviors regarding waste and saving (frugality) according to their age, gender, and status. The findings obtained in the research are presented in detail at the end of the article.
