Summary/Abstract: Father Jan Długosz is known mainly as the most outstanding historiographerof medieval Poland. However, few people know about his other face, which was his serviceto those in need, both in the material and spiritual spheres. It cannot be forgotten thatJan Długosz was first and foremost a clergyman. The offices and church dignities he heldwere associated with specific rights and obligations. After all, he was a parish priest anda member of several chapters. His activity on behalf of others was manifested, among otherthings, in his foundation activities. He himself was considered one of the greatest patronsof art in the second half of the 15th century. Activities undertaken by Father Jan Długosz’scontributions to the parishioners he pastored, the clergy who supported him in his pastoralwork, and the students testify, on the one hand, to his great sense of responsibility for his fel-low man, both in the spiritual and material spheres. On the other hand, they can also be seenas manifestations of his personal piety.
