Summary/Abstract: This article examines the interdisciplinary project Fossibilities: Archaeology of the Future by Marta A. Flisykowska, which integrates speculative design, literary theory, and ecological science to envision post-anthropocentric futures. By blending art, science, and literature, the project creates “future fossils” that challenge anthropocentric narratives and foster ecological awareness. Drawing on Monika Fludernik’s Towards a ‘Natural’ Narratology, Umberto Eco’s The Open Work, and Ursula Le Guin’s “The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction,” the project frames speculative art as an evolving, collaborative narrative. This article highlights the project’s potential to foster intellectual and emotional engagement with sustainability, offering a model for cross-disciplinary exploration and a vision of coexistence beyond human dominance.
