Summary/Abstract: The traditional furniture of Bessarabia represents an essential element of cultural heritage, reflecting both household functionality and the aesthetic concerns of local craftsmen. This study analyzes the typological diversity of peasant furniture, regional influences, and the materials used. The classification of pieces by functionality reveals three main categories: those intended for rest, storage, and dining. The artistic aspect of the furniture is emphasized in the article, highlighting the aesthetic taste of both the craftsman and the owner. The furniture examples illustrate the evolution from functional objects to pieces with decorative elements.A representative example is the hope chest, which evolved from simple forms to models decorated with floral and geometric motifs, influenced by both external trends and local traditions. The study also highlights regional variations, such as the “sofca” in the north and center or the “canapcele” in the southeast. The research findings confirm that traditional furniture in Bessarabia was not merely a collection of utilitarian objects, but an artistic and identity-defining expression of rural communities. The furniture integrated into the peasant household reflects a synthesis between functionality and aesthetics, illustrating the continuity of traditions and their adaptation to external influences. This material heritage serves as a valuable source of inspiration for the preservation and revitalization of traditional craftsmanship.
