Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine characteristic aspects of the use of a chance creation technique inspired by Marcel Duchamp's “3 Standard Stoppages” (1913-14). The text draws attention to the idea, the development and the possibility of applying the technique in the work of the educator, the artist and the art therapist. The aim of the study is to expand on how so called chance creations techniques can be a creative approach to motivate creative work related to the thematization of: identity, responses to provocation, the need for play, and overcoming the artist's fears of unpredictability.
