Summary/Abstract: Opera origins from Florence, Italy, in the 16th and 17th centuries, and it is gradually introduced in China in the 20s of the last century. Based on the main features of the Western opera, Chinese opera constantly develops as a form of art with unique national style. This article divides the early development of Chinese opera into three stages: „stage of forming”, „stage of research”, and „stage of growth”, and it explains the process of its formation and development by the main features of the opera work in the various periods, as well as the contribution of several generations of creators to this art.
