Summary/Abstract: Music as part of the educational system aims at the aesthetic education of adolescents and contributes to the formation of personality. By conveying the most significant cultural achievements in human history through the main activities that make up the lesson, the discipline Music is a factor in the development of cultural competences, the construction of musical culture, as well as the creation of conditions for the development of personal talents. The following pages will compare Dmitry Kabalevsky's „Music Program for the General Education School“ for 1st grade, as well as the current program for general education preparation in Music in Bulgarian schools, in the search for common moments - goals, expected results, topics, concepts.
