Summary/Abstract: The present study reveals in a comparative mode the work on the English text of a musical theatre piece in the English classroom both at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk and the Art Academy in Plovdiv. The algorithm used during these classes is compared in terms of similarities and differences between the two educational institutions, highlighting the positives in both practices. The idea of the correlation between a clear and distinctly sounding text and its high-quality musical performance on stage is a leading statement of both programs. The process of working on the English text for a musical theatre piece poses challenges to student performers and their teachers and these challenges are analyzed in the article. The presentation is not only based on theoretical material, but is also a reflection of live impressions due to attending English language classes at both academies.
