Summary/Abstract: This paper attemps to present the results of а research focused on the role of audience development. Art Consumption skills, the level of which is determined socio-culturally and socio-economically, and the function of arts for distinction suggest some questions for audience expansion. Discussion on representation in arts, which can work to institutionalise inequality, also leads to the understanding of a “target-driven” approach to the art field.
