Considerations around Patriotic Education as a Field of Education

Summary/Abstract: The changeable and unpredictable contemporary educational reality, which is a constitutive element of social reality, prompts us to pay more attention to patriological issues, including those being a part of the educational activities undertaken by teachers and educators. Hence, the text includes considerations focused on the patriotic education, understood by some educators as a separate area of education. The subject of the analyzes included issues such as: the field of education and patriotism, which is a central category in research on patriotic education. Then, the essence of patriotic upbringing was analyzed, and the theory of patriotic upbringing was indicated as a detailed theory of upbringing, which – like the general theory of upbringing – is in a state of in statu nascendi; and which – due to its importance – should find its proper place in the structure contemporary pedagogical sub-disciplines.
