Summary/Abstract: This article examines the digital transformation of military organisations as a comprehensive process of institutional change that extends beyond technological modernisation. It analyses how emerging technologies (including Artificial Intelligence, digital twins, autonomous systems, and cloud-enabled architectures) reshape defence decision-making, operational models, and leadership practices. The study examines the key drivers and barriers to digital transformation, proposing that organisational and cultural constraints outweigh technical limitations, and that effective transformation requires structural adaptation and ethically governed interoperability. Using a qualitative analytical approach, the research synthesises strategic documents from NATO, the EU, and national defence institutions alongside academic literature. Findings highlight persistent challenges such as legacy infrastructures, fragmented procurement, and shortages in digital skills. The study concludes that digitally enabled defence effectiveness depends on adaptive governance, data-literate leadership, and coherent alliance-level integration.
