Summary/Abstract: Solidarity, hospitality, and mutual aid as virtues of character grow and develop, are acquired, and become part of a person’s and community’s character when the sense of community becomes a conscious choice. This is because a person is never alone and because there is a need for belonging. Experiencing these virtues has a profound moral dimension and is part of human benevolence, which is also acquired through upbringing and living in a community and society. Virtues are those qualities that bring us closer to the example of a higher authority, one that is followed, and allow for understanding, acceptance, tolerance, and respect for human rights to be achieved in life. The aim of this article is to remind us that each one of us is a unique individual, with our own possibilities and limitations, but also with our moral rights and responsibilities. It is up to us to develop our virtuous character. When these virtues are manifested, a person feels peace, satisfaction, happiness, and a sense of belonging to a given community and society.
