Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the establishment of Slovenian vocational schools for innkeepers in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes/ Yugoslavia. In Celje, Ljubljana and Maribor, vocational continuance schools for innkeepers were founded in 1923 and 1924 and were part of the so-called vocational continuance schools, lower vocational schools for apprentices, in¬herited from the previous Austro-Hungarian period (gewerbliche Fortbildungsschulen). The Gostilnicarski dom (Innkeepers'Home) was es¬tablished in 1932 and a home economics school for innkeepers' wives in 1935 both in Ljublja¬na. The establishment and operation of these schools was closely monitored by professional newspapers, such as Gostilnicar (Innkeeper) (igi4~ig^o), Gostilnicarski list (Innkeepers' Gazette) (1923-1930) and Gostilnicarski vestnik (Inkeepers' Journal) (1914-1930), and these thus represent an exhaustive source of information on the training of innkeepers in this particular period, The paper also draws on the notes and articles in Nova doba, Jutro, Slovenski narod and Slovenec newspapers as additional sources of information on the establishment of schools for innkeepers.
