Summary/Abstract: Osman Nuri was the son of a Turkish customs official. He was born in Kilifarevo, Tarnovo Province. He graduated from the state teacher training college in Kazanlak. He began his career in the foreign ministry of the Principality of Bulgaria, later transferring to serve in the interior ministry of Ottoman Turkey. During this period, he worked with representatives of the national liberation movement in Macedonia. Together with Anton Davidov, he participated in the secret diplomatic negotiations in 1904 as a representative of the Sublime Porte. After arriving in Bulgaria in 1920, Osman Nuri was appointed to a government position in the public education system. At the same time, he began to develop active political activity in the ranks of the ruling Bulgarian party, the Bulgarian Agrarian People's Union – this is documented both in the local press and in the documents of the case brought against the agrarian ministers in 1923 and kept in the Bulgarian state archives.
