Summary/Abstract: The catholic church relating today´s disskusion must be assessed using various specific points of view. What are the essentional questions that determine its expression in the beginning of the 21th century? This article deals with several areas that influence its formation. There are the changes concerning the conclussions of the IIth Vatican Council that brought other point of view. Sacral architecture has undergone many changes since the time of the council. Concerning the situation of this time we must remark various determinations. We must speak about symbolic sense of the churhc, prevailed liturgy and their connection with space, expression of architecture, basic roientation (longitudal or central), etc. There are also influences of social condition as for example secularisation. An other theme is eccumenism and its result due to architectonical solution. To built church is considered as a peak of architectural creation. it needs co-operation of architect and theologue/litugist.
