Summary/Abstract: The anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, which remindsus of the fun-damental significance of the Nicene doctrine associated with the concept of ho-moousios, calls for renewed reflection on the origins and essence of Arianism, as it caused one of the most serious crises ever to affect the Church. The problem recurred many Times over the centuries, but the Nicene doctrine was the basis for the Church’s response and for rebuilding the authenticity of the faith. In the contemporary Church, too, tere are certainsigns of a return to Arianism, chich theology must address in the name of the authenticity of its ecclesial mission.
