Summary/Abstract: In this article, we will discuss how to help a child cope with loss during parent separation or divorce to prevent social, mental, emotional, and physical dysfunction. To this end, we will discuss loss, distinguishing it from PTSD, and then present a model for working with children by applying methods related to play psychotherapy. Our article utilizes an analytical approach while maintaining a descriptive method of presentation. In this discussion, we will summarize the effects of separation and divorce, highlighting the consequences they have on a child’s development.
