Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyses several texts written by two poets coming from two countries of Europe that lie at the two ends of the continent, R. S. Thomas – Wales and Tudor Arghezi –Romania. It focuses on the modality in which both of them, in their attempt to meet the absolute, develop a poetic discourse marked by absence and silence that proves to be, paradoxically, the point of begenung.
