Summary/Abstract: This study investigates the inception and development of dry floriculture in Turan (Bayindir). Furthermore, this paper assesses its transformation into a sustainable livelihood and illustrates it as an example of rural development. From January–February 2024, semi-structured interviews were conducted with dried flower producers and personnel of relevant local public institutions and organizations. Also, this study was supplemented by field observations, based on field study findings. The research findings suggest that the restricted availability of agricultural land and water resources in Turan village resulted in the development of dry floriculture. The prohibition on the sale of manufactured flowers from China, driven by health concerns and a rising desire for natural items, underscores the village's reliance on local resources. Women predominantly engage in the labor-intensive production process. The residents are agricultural laborers rather than producers of farm commodities. Dry floriculture's year-round feasibility contributes significantly to its sustainability. Price fluctuations and producer competition significantly impact profit stability, and producers' lack of cash hinders their ability to integrate technology into production stages. Local administrative units organize festivals to aid in the promotion and sale of dried flowers. A lack of collaborative culture restricts cooperative initiatives.
