Summary/Abstract: The state of fire protection is understood as a comprehensive set ofpreventive measures aimed at avoiding incidents, as well as immediate responseactions undertaken in the event of fires, disasters, or local hazards. This publicationaddresses the issue of fire protection in the municipalities of Zduńska Wola County.The analyzed period, based on source materials, covers the years 2005–2023. Thestudy references the legal framework and draws upon existing research on fire pro-tection in various regions of Poland. The article also discusses the organizationalstructure of the National Firefighting and Rescue System, with particular focuson Zduńska Wola County. The objective of the research was to identify munici-palities that demonstrated the highest level of fire protection, assessed in relationto the number of incidents, their distribution across categories (fires, local hazards,and false alarms), the number of casualties and fatalities, as well as the numberof incidents per 1,000 inhabitants. Furthermore, the research aimed to highlighttrends in these categories, thereby enabling a comprehensive assessment of fireprotection across the entire county. The study employed, among other methods,cartograms and cartodiagrams, which made it possible to visualize both relativeand absolute data. The findings identified municipalities with a favorable state offire protection, as well as those where additional measures should be implementedto improve fire safety.
