Summary/Abstract: This study aimed to determine the crisis management competencies perceived by school administrators in public schools during the earthquake preparedness process, focusing on management processes such as planning, organizing, coordinating, and communicating. A descriptive research design, a quantitative research method, was employed. The population of the study comprised educational administrators serving in official institutions in Turkey with the status of civil servants. The research was conducted with 346 educational administrators selected from schools in the districts of Adalar, Avcılar, Bahçelievler, Bakırköy, Beylikdüzü, Büyükçekmece, Küçükçekmece, Maltepe, Sultanbeyli, Tuzla, Üsküdar, and Zeytinburnu, which were identified as having high potential for physical damage in the 2022 Istanbul Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (İRAP). Participants were selected using simple random sampling. According to the research findings, the crisis management competencies perceived by school administrators in official schools during the earthquake preparedness process are at a "moderate" level in the planning stage. Their perceived competencies in organizing and communicating are at a "sufficient" level, while those in the coordination stage are at a "high" level. The study concluded that there is a statistically significant difference between the perceived competencies of school administrators in organizing, coordinating, and communicating during crisis management processes and their exposure to disaster training.
