Summary/Abstract: Research into the value orientations of teachers and teacher training students builds on interdisciplinary approaches in philosophy, psychology, sociology, and pedagogy, which confirm the importance of values in the process of education and professional development of teachers. The literature confirms that values are a key element in the moral development, motivation, and social behavior of teachers and students. The aim of the research was to determine the structure of values, attitudes toward values, and the importance of motivational factors in the teaching profession. The main research questions were to determine the structure of values and value orientations of teachers and teacher training students, their attitudes towards values, and the importance of motivational factors in their professional activities. The assumption was that higher scores will rather be obtained by teachers than by students and that there will be insignificant differences between genders. Quantitative design with the HO-PO-MO questionnaire was used. The results confirmed that teachers achieve higher scores in all three areas (value orientations, attitudes, motivation) than students, while no statistically significant differences were found between genders.
