Summary/Abstract: Starting from a reflection on Ildikó Kovács’s 1996 complaint about the underestimation of children’s theatre, the article offers an overview of the Ariel Youth and Children’s Theatre’s recent productions, highlighting the evolving perception and artistic complexity of children’s theatre. Reviewing six diverse plays – among them the stagings of A varázsfuvola (The Magic Flute), Csizmás kandúr (Puss in Boots) and János vitéz (John tha Valiant) –, the critic emphasizes how well-crafted children’s performances, despite their apparent simplicity, offer richly nuanced experiences even for adults.
