Summary/Abstract: The present article focuses on the study of the aspectual meanings of deverbal nouns, namely, those ending in -ung and -en. We have chosen to investigate these lexical units due to their specific way of formation, and namely, via nomination, as well as due to their productivity in modern German. The semantic analysis of the deverbal nouns is based on different texts from the German press and this fact proves that they maintain the aspectual meanings of the verbs they are derived from. Of major importance is the determination of various Aktioinsarten (modes of action) expressed by both types of nominations, as well as their comparison.
