Summary/Abstract: In 1784, Doino Grammatik included in the Elena transcript of the Paisiyevsky story the song “On the rescue of Prince Vladimir from Samuil’s daughter, the maiden Kosara”. The Bulgarian Historical Archive of the National Library “St. Cyril and Methodius” preserves an original “transcript” of the same song, made by Neofit Rilski (1793–1881). The presented article offers its translation into modern Bulgarian for the first time and examines its plot-forming role in Bulgarian folklore and its va riability.
