LEGAL FRAMEWORK FOR THE PROTECTION OF PERSONS REPORTING CORRUPTION

Summary/Abstract: There are a number of studies related to the definition of the term “corruption”, which also consider issues related to reporting corruption. Some of them lack a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the criminal legal protection of the so-called “whistleblowers”. The main objective of the study is to examine the existing criminal legal protection of persons reporting corruption, by revealing the main elements regarding the implementation of this protection in view of the international legal framework and the Protection of Persons Reporting or Publicly Disclosing Information on Breaches Act in Bulgaria adopted in 2023.
