Summary/Abstract: Nikolay Danilevsky was a Russian natural scientist and cultural philosopher who interpreted the course of world history through a cyclical social theory, thereby making a significant contribution to the development of macro-level theories and longitudinal socio-cultural studies. Through his theory of cultural-historical types, Danilevsky proposed several important alternatives to the prevailing understanding of history and the development of cultures. Within the framework of this theory – and in advocating for an original path of development specific to the Slavic world – Danilevsky also discussed the role of the Serbian people and Serbia. Furthermore, his study Russia and Europe had a profound impact on philosophical thought beyond Russia’s borders.
