The role of the state financial control inspectorate in preventing and combating illegal activities that constitute offences within the limits of its competence

Summary/Abstract: This scientific study analyzes current issues regarding the legal framework and the role of the State Financial Control Inspectorate in preventing and combating contraventions within the limits of its competence as a control body. Moreover, the article is dedicated to highlighting the new legal regulations that the legislator has established for this institution to ensure the efficiency of public finances, assigning it the function of national controller of European funds, as well as assistance and cooperation in order to protect the financial interests of the European Union against fraud and other violations. The State Financial Control Inspectorate, having the function of state controller, can ascertain, examine contraventions, conclude reports based on financial inspection materials. Thus, in the content of the study we reported two important aspects of competence: the first regarding the finding of contraventional facts and the second regarding the examination of contraventional cases.
