Summary/Abstract: Nation-state thinking is not particularly old. Until the 19th century, national borders in today‘s sense meant next to nothing. This also applies to the Central European wooded landscape between the Bohemian Forest and the Bavarian Forest. Similar cross-border continuities can also be observed in literary history. The following article aims to develop perspectives for the 21st century that transcend borders.
