Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to identify the possible consequences of introducing the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) No. 2023/970 of 10 May 2023, which is to ensure the application of the principle of equal pay for equal work or work of equal value between men and women by introducing the concept of pay transparency and mechanisms for its enforcement. The following research question was formulated: Will the mandatory implementation of EU regulations regarding pay transparency in an organization eliminate the existing pay gap? The article presents a review of the literature on the subject, aiming to identify possible benefits and threats resulting from the implementation of legal regulations in this area in an organization. Its results indicate that the implementation of the directive in EU countries may, but does not have to, lead to a reduction in the pay gap, because this effect is not always a consequence of an increase in women’s wages, but may result from many other actions taken by managers in organizations.
