Summary/Abstract: Reflections on the theory of the art of writing often accompany the work of a writer. Camille Pert can be considered a particular representative of this trend; her keen interest in social issues led her to devote several pages to women’s work and to women’s status in marriage. Our analysis will focus on the similarities and differences between Pert’s vision of women’s role in public and private spaces as expressed in one of her how-to-books Le Bonheur conjugal – and her novels Vénale, Leur égale, L’Autel and La Petite Cady series. We will also explore the significant didactic component that prevails in Pert’s oeuvre, which is marked by generic ambiguity.
