Summary/Abstract: The mechanism of operation of cyclones is relatively simple and single-stage. When the gas-dust flow enters the cyclone tangentially, it is forced to perform a spiral motion. This rotational motion creates centrifugal forces that push the dust particles towards the outer walls of the cyclone. The subject of this study is the specific influence of diameter on the separation efficiency and energy consumption of cyclone separators. This includes investigating the relationships between diameter, generated centrifugal forces, gas flow velocity, pressure drop, and particle capture efficiency. The main objective of the study is to determine the optimal diameter of the cyclone separator for specific applications in order to achieve maximum particle capture efficiency while minimizing energy consumption, by presenting design criteria and recommendations that balance these two important factors. The study uses an experimental method, focusing on variables: the main independent variable will be the diameter of the cyclone. In order to be able to compare the results, all laboratory measurements must be carried out using the same methodology and under the same conditions. The experimental results obtained show a correlation between the physical and mechanical characteristics of the materials studied and the separation efficiency.
