Summary/Abstract: The text outlines the religious practices of the Bulgarian Muslims in the town of Madan. The substantial importance of these practices in the calendar and family rites of the particular community is due to the long-lasting tradition, sustained by several generations of clerics with special vocation to develop and disseminate Islam among the local population. The text describes the local peculiarities in the performance of Mevlid, paying at the same time special attention to one of the not so many lives of Mohamed created in Bulgaria – Yeni Mevlid-I Sherif Kitabi (better known as the Mevlid from Madan), created in 1961 by the vaiz of Madan Molla Raif Efendi. The research is based on fieldwork data, gathered by the author in the period 2021–2022.
