INCUNABULA AND HERALDRY. A TREATISE ON HUNTING AND COATS OF ARMS PRINTED AT ST. ALBANS ABBEY IN ENGLAND IN 1486: THE BOKYS OF HAUKYNG AND HUNTYNG AND ALSO OF COAT-ARMURIS

Summary/Abstract: The author is dealing with an incunabulum printed in 1486 at St. Albans prototypography by the Schoolmaster printer, a misterious prototypograph. Basically, the book consists on three different treatises, the first on haukyng (hawking), the second on huntyng (hunting), and the last on coat-armuris (coats of arms). The alleged author of the books seems to by Juliana Bernes (also Barnes), but there are too many different oppinions concening her authorship. The author of this study is focusing mainly only on the third treatise, that connected to heraldry, a very interesting topic, taking into consideration that this book is the first printed manual of heraldry on the English Kingdom.
