By applyingTimothy Clark’s ecocritical frameworks (2015, 2019), the analysis reveals how the noveltransforms scientific abstractions (e.g., la seca disease, avocado monocultures) into visceralnarratives of loss, bridging local and global ecological crises. The novel’s polyphonic structureexposes the socio-economic asymmetries driving environmental degradation and modelsa nuanced ecological ethics that resists reductive activism.
