Summary/Abstract: Grounded in Glenn Albrecht’s concept of solastalgia and sense of place theories, this articleoffers an ecocritical reading of Txani Rodríguez’s La seca [The Blight] (2024). By applyingTimothy Clark’s ecocritical frameworks (2015, 2019), the analysis reveals how the noveltransforms scientific abstractions (e.g., la seca disease, avocado monocultures) into visceralnarratives of loss, bridging local and global ecological crises. The novel’s polyphonic structureexposes the socio-economic asymmetries driving environmental degradation and modelsa nuanced ecological ethics that resists reductive activism. La seca thus enlarges eco-fiction byrevealing solastalgia as both symptom and catalyst in Spain’s rural Anthropocene.
