Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the latest technological innovations in global journalism thattranscend traditional multimedia formats. It analyses the potential of virtual reality (VR),augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI) and data journalism and visualisationfor covering global topics. It charts how these technologies can help journalists to overcomebarriers of geographic, social, and psychological distance; create new narrative structures;and provide analytical tools with which to process complex global contexts. Through theanalysis of specific implementations and case studies, the text illustrates the transformativepotential of these technologies for the future of global journalism.
