Summary/Abstract: The article under consideration is dedicated to the usage in the documents the title, notion, ethnonym „Rutheni”, „Dux Ruizorum”, „Marchia Ruthenorum” in the medieval Europe on the basis of the source-monographic base available. Whereas in the French kingdom the title of Ruthene, Ruthenensis belonged to the Counts of Armanyaki, then in the medieval Hungary the following geographical regions claimed the title „Dux Ruizorum” (the Russian Prince, Leader, Duke) and the historic name „Marchia Ruthenorum” (Russian Mark), to wit north-eastern Pannonia (a part of present day Hungary, Austria and Slovenia), Potissya, a borderland within Shariski, Zemplinski, Uzhanski and Berezhski counties of the Hungarian kingdom, four counties of Bereg, Maramarosh, Ugocha and Ung. Certainly, this problematic question must find its decision.
