Summary/Abstract: The present study aimed to analyze employers’ perceptions regarding the academic performance of students in the field of Psychology as an attribute of employability, a subject that has been little investigated in Romanian specialized literature. A total of 26 participants took part in the research, 16 women (61.5%) and 10 men (38.5%), licensed psychologists practicing in individual offices or professional associations, aged between 30 and 45 years (M = 2.04; SD = 0.87). The qualitative research used a semi-structured interviews with employers as the method. The results of the interviews allowed the identification of major interconnected themes of interest, namely academic performance as a fundamental factor of general and professional competencies, and meta-skills or soft skills, which are indispensable for employability in the field. In the context of higher education, these results may contribute to the development of new approaches to student-centered learning, including the integration of these competencies into curricular and personal development programs, through a dynamic, practice-oriented approach.
