Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we will try to restore the idea of “professor” as it was presented in some texts which referred to the status of the Romanian universities mainly from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Such articles as those published in “Revista Fundațiilor Regale”, “Însemnări ieșene”, “Scânteia” etc. and the volumes inquired by us during our research were published between the years 1919 and 1987. Among the authors here referred, we included C. Rădulescu-Motru, E. Racoviță, N. Iorga etc. Most of the ideas comprised in our study, although already stated some decades ago, are still valid and, moreover, also applicable to all those who teach in universities.
