Summary/Abstract: Mircea Eliade was a key figure in the study of myth, viewing it as a vital part of human consciousness. He introduced the idea of "eternal return", showing how rituals in traditional societies connect people to sacred time. Myths resurface during crises to restore social identity, often legitimizing political ideologies like Fascism or Communism. Eliade also explored hierophany, where the sacred manifests in the everyday. His interdisciplinary approach influenced anthropology, religious studies, and literature. For Eliade, myths continue to shape modern narratives, providing meaning to individual and collective life
