Summary/Abstract: One of the main themes of the novel Prokurator Alicja Horn by TadeuszDolenga-Mostowicz is the woman’s place in the Polish society of the 1930s, herrights and opportunities. The introduction of the image of a woman prosecutor isground-breaking. In the novel, the author calls his protagonist either prokuratoror prokuratorka, reflecting the linguistic tendency of the time towards the formation of feminitives alongside masculine forms. Is this inconsistency intentionalor accidental? Many questions arose during the translation of feminitives in thenovel. Whereas in Belarusian the feminitive пракурорка sounds acceptable, in theRussian translation there are problems. Such is the case in relation to modernsociety (Belarusian-speaking and Russian-speaking) to feminitives. and it is farfrom unambiguous.
