Summary/Abstract: I.D.Sîrbu's Ark of Good Hope is a parabolic play, as it encompasses a series of ideas and symbols about the goals of humanity, where biblical motifs intertwine with contemporary questions regarding the destiny and purpose of humanity. The main myth of Ion Desideriu Sîrbu's play is that of the flood, with Noah's Ark being the central biblical motif. The flood can be seen as a symbol of human destiny, of the difficult path that man must travel to achieve his goal, to fulfill his dreams, and the ark represents the world in its essence, hope being the only one that can cope with the flood. Noah's Ark becomes in this drama a metaphor for the world we live in, but also of human complexity, a refuge for ideas, emotions and thoughts, giving us the opportunity to reflect on our own existence.
