Summary/Abstract: The paper summarizes the results of a questionnaire survey of the attitudes of Czech linguists and foreign specialists in Czech linguistics towards the issues of language standard, language regulation and codification of Czech. The survey was conducted from 31 January to 16 March 2024 and was completed by a total of 246 linguists of various levels of seniority and professional backgrounds and from different regions of the Czech Republic (or abroad). The paper first describes the socio-demographic characteristics of the sample of respondents and then reviews the responses to key questions concerning the current practice of language regulation and its future prospects. The statistical method of Latent Class Analysis (LCA) was used to describe the distribution of individual positions in the community of linguists, based on the answers to survey questions concerning the possible codification of 15 selected phenomena. The LCA resulted in the classification of respondents into three groups representing the main currents of opinion: conservative, progressive, and pragmatic. The quantitative analysis was complemented by a qualitative analysis of open-response responses and comments, which revealed a partly similar distribution: conservative, liberal, progressive, and scholars emphasizing the public service aspect of language regulation.
