Summary/Abstract: The most valuable tiara in the jewelry box of Queen Elizabeth of Romania was the diadem with pearls and diamonds or the diadem of the city of Bucharest. It was purchased by the city hall of Bucharest, when the mayor was Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, nicknamed "the Nabob". The ornament was made by Gustave Baugrand, an illustrious Parisian jeweler, highly appreciated by Emperor Napoleon III. Along with this ornament, Queen Elizabeth received another diadem with diamonds and brilliants from Vlașca County.
