The possibilities of the results of neutron activation analysis in the field of control of drug and psychotropic substance abuse

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the possibilities of using neutron activation analysis in the field of control (prevention, detection, investigation and documentation) of drug abuse. Neutron activation analysis allows a very accurate determination of the content of individual elements from a very small amount of the substance. Based on the information obtained in this way, it is then possible to confirm or refute the identity of two or more samples of analysed substances and thus identify the origin or the way the substance was treated in the period between its production and consumption (route or method of transport, dilution). These facts could then be used in an effective action against the abuse of drugs in particular.
