Summary/Abstract: The case study of the completed Operation Royal deals with the activities of officers of the National Drug Headquarters of the Criminal Police and Investigation Service in detecting and documenting criminal activities related to the illegal production of methamphetamine. The operation had its origins in another completed case and was directed to an Asian market operated by the Vietnamese community. As part of the operation, six members of an organised group were arrested and charged in the Czech Republic and a factory, where the industrial extraction of pseudoephedrine was directly taking place, was discovered and seized. Pseudoephedrine from this factory constituted an important source of precursor for the subsequent large-scale production of methamphetamine, concentrated mainly in the north-western border areas of the Czech Republic and the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.
