Summary/Abstract: The text is based on reflections while working on the exhibition Ultra-Avant-Garde. Koło Klipsa and the Poznań Underground of the 1980s, held at the National Museum in Poznań in spring and summer 2024. Discussing the titular concepts, the author provides examples that highlight the diversity and ideological complexity within the Poznań alternative scene. While the alternative scene sought independence, its reliance on official cultural infrastructure – such as student clubs and community centers – complicated this autonomy. Individual artists and bands either aligned with or distanced themselves from established cultural circles, showcasing a spectrum of attitudes. In the final postulate, the author calls for a reevaluation of traditional concepts and rigid classifications, advocating for a perspective that recognizes circuits and systems that are at least partially open, locally or temporarily permeable, mutually reinforcing, and heterogeneous.
