Summary/Abstract: “Les Lettres Albanaises”, the Albanian literary-artistic magazine, the product of the League of Writers and Artists of Albania, made its debut in autumn of 1978, while the last edition was in the spring of 1991. With longevity of nearly 13 years, it has been considered by critics as one of the most successful magazines of time. Written in French, the magazine was designed from the beginning to reach the foreign public, to whom it conveyed the spiritual wealth of the Albanian nation. Although it was born as the output of the official institutions of communist Albania state, so, de jure it should have been the promoter of the spirit of this regime and of the values of socialist realism method, de facto, it exceeded this utilitarian mission, even challenging it with finesse. In successive fifty issues of the publication Albanian culture is presented to the foreign public at the level of the national system, with the most inherent values of its past, tradition and present. The object of our analysis in this paperwork will be the performances of Albanian literature in this periodical, highlighting the strong representations, whether in terms of the geography of Albanian writing (authors from Kosovo, Arberesh of Italy etc., are presented for the francophone reader), either in terms of modern literary poetics, which not only didn’t agree with the method of socialist realism, but contradicted it.
