Summary/Abstract: The technical meaning of the term accent is related to the way it is pronounced. The purpose of this paper is to include distinct ways of pronouncing words, especially of different social classes. Discussion of this issue seeks to bring together close disciplines: on the one hand sociolinguistics (foreign/ local accent between speakers) and, on the other, phonetics and phonology (the place of stress when considering cases when sounds/ syllables are removed or added). As a consequence, the summarized statistics become comparable, as there are sociological variables between the speakers: place of birth, age, education, power and influence relations, etc. Therefore, changes that are relevant from a sociolinguistic point of view are addressed: if the speaker uses his local accent as a tool of affirming identity and loyalty to local groups – geographical variation. Data and transcription: the conversation analysis was recorded based on natural interactions between different participants, in order to identify the phenomenon of stress in Albanian. The difference illustrated in the transcripts emphasizes the importance of the social context: has been used phonetic transcription according to the IPA symbols.
