Summary/Abstract: The research on the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of Romania, its functio-ning and organisation, follows other studies on the foreign service of variousstates. The presented paper, thereby, focuses on the singular, longitudinal casestudy, that is structure, diplomatic and consular personnel, and consular activitytoo, since the end of 2019 to the beginning of 2024. This allows us to indicatea set of reforms of the Corps that were adopted during the analysed period aswell as to explore a specific character of the service. The paper tests the claim ofwhether the Corps’ structure is in the line with the classic organisational modelof diplomacy of contemporary states. To do so, the answer to the main questionposed is searched, namely how, and which of the adopted reforms influenced theCorps’ structure during the concerned period. To respond to this question, threemain issues were researched: organisation, path of career, and directions of chan-ges of the Corps. The lessons learned are included in the conclusion. The purpo-se of the paper is thus to analyse the case study of the contemporary Diplomaticand Consular Corps of Romania, taking into account both domestic and inter-national context of the changes that were introduced.
